[1]  2006 Awards Banquet

The IEEE Alaska Section’s premier social event, the Annual Awards Banquet, will be held Saturday, September 23rd, 2006 at the Millennium Hotel in Anchorage, Alaska. The banquet has become the Section’s foremost affair, where friends, colleagues, and their guests come together to recognize the outstanding contributions and achievements of fellow members.

The evening begins at 6:00 pm, warming up with a social hour which includes a no-host cocktails bar. A superb dinner will be served at 7:00, followed by a state-of-the-section address by Chair Jo Ann Neumaier. During the course of the evening, the Section will formally recognize and present its 2005 awards. Our guest speaker this year will be Chris Rose, Executive Director of Renewable Energy Alaska Project (REAP).

Menu selections for the banquet can be made by completing the RSVP form attached, found on the website, or in the Fall 2006 Newsletter (sent via postal mail). We need to receive your RSVP form by September 20, to get an accurate attendance figure for the venue. For further information or assistance, please contact Harry Turtschanow, Section Vice Chair, at 729-4057 or email hturtsch "ąt" anthc.org.  You can also click here for more details.

[2]  Request for Student Accommodations

Members of the University of Alaska IEEE Student Branch will be traveling down from Fairbanks to attend the Alaska Section Annual Awards Banquet . Like every year, the Section is in need of several volunteers who can find room in their homes to take in one or more student members for the evening of the banquet. Please help; it is very rewarding, and your hospitality will be very much appreciated by the students and the Section. To make arrangements, or for more information, please call Harry Turtschanow, Section Vice Chair, at 729-4057 or email to: hturtsch "ąt" anthc.org.  More discussion on this is available in the Fall Newsletter.

[3]  No Monthly Luncheon This Month

Due to the Awards Banquet, there will be no monthly luncheon this month at the Sourdough.  Coming soon in October we look forward to Mike Willmon's presentation on his recently converted electric Mitsubishi MightyMax. We are working hard to make the presentation available to members outside of Anchorage.  Be sure to check out the Section website for more details in the near future.
