[1]  December 2006 Luncheon

* Important Meeting *

Please Attend if Possible

The Alaska Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. will hold its monthly luncheon 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 20th , at the Sourdough Mining Co. Restaurant, 5200 Juneau Street.

The Alaska AELS Board will be presenting a panel discussion on two very important issues to Alaska Engineers. The first issue is how to implement the tracking of the newly required CE credits. The board is making this effort because they want our member’s feedback. It is important for as many members to attend as possible. The second issue is the new NCEES Model Law making it a requirement to have an additional 30 undergraduate/graduate credit to sit for the PE exam starting 2015. The panel will speak briefly on the board’s position opposing it, and what to expect to happen between now and 2015.

Kenneth Maynard, FAIA, CSI, CCS is a principal of USKH, Inc. His architectural background started in 1950 when he began working his way through college in South Africa. He moved to Alaska in 1960 and started his own practice in 1965. This continued for 31 years until joining USKH, Inc., a multi-disciplined architectural and engineering firm with now approximately 180 employees in Alaska and the Northwest. Ken is the current Chair of the AELS Board.

Craig Fredeen, P.E., is mechanical engineer with PDC Inc. Engineers. Raised in Eagle River, he has been a mechanical engineer in Alaska for over 10 years. He is the past president of the local ASHRAE chapter, a member of the Municipality of Anchorage Building Board and the AELS Board.

The meeting is free and open to the public. The cost for a buffet style lunch is $15 per person for IEEE members or $17 for nonmembers. Please RSVP by Tuesday, December 19th to Jo Neumaier, 263-5234 or e-mail NeumaierSJ "ąt" ci.anchorage.ak.us.
