The Section has a historical presence in the state to provide National Electric Code update courses to the membership and the general population of electrical workers. These courses run on a 3 year cycle.
In addition, there is a state requirement for certain electrical workers to have 8 hours of continuing education due by August of odd years.
Both of these offer the Section opportunity to serve the membership and to help the Section finances.
The Section presently has a relationship with Grayboy Inc. which has been agreeable to both parties (date 2002).
The Education Chair should investigate seminars of short length in addition to the short courses listed above.
1. Technical speakers draw more members to the monthly meetings than those with general topics
2. Stay in touch with speakers as their designated day approaches. Have a backup plan if something happens and they can’t make it.
3. Obtain a writeup from the speaker for the newsletter ( a longer one) and/or the monthly email message and the newspaper announcement.
4. At end of year prepare a list of possible topics for coming year. Have January program lined up to ease transition to new Vice Chair.
