Vice Chair

  1. Performs the duties of the Section Chair whenever the Section Chair is unable to do so, as well as other duties as delegated by the Chair.
  2. Strives to become familiar with the duties of the Chair and undertakes other responsibilities assigned by the Section Chair of the Section Bylaws.
  3. Arranges for the speakers for the monthly membership and annual social meetings. Prepares speaker and meeting announcements for the Section newsletter and local newspapers.
  4. Introduces monthly speakers
  5. Is responsible for handling publicity for the Section if a Publicity Committee Chair is not appointed

Monthly Membership Meetings

Regular membership meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month

 

Annual Social Meeting

The annual social meeting (evening dinner with spouses and guests) is usually scheduled the third Saturday of September to allow the Fairbanks Student Chapter and Subsection members to attend. The annual Section Awards’ presentations are made at this meeting. Planning should begin in April/May. A sample planning sheet is available here.

Speakers
    1. Technical speakers draw more members to the monthly meetings than those with general topics
    2. Stay in touch with speakers as their designated day approaches. Have a backup plan if something happens and they can’t make it.
    3. Obtain a write-up from the speaker for the newsletter (a longer one) and/or the monthly email message and the newspaper announcement.
    4. At end of year prepare a list of possible topics for coming year. Have January program lined up to ease transition to new Vice Chair.
